Oh you want a serious answer.
A lot of the food is old style English with an asian twist, or influenced by the major immigrant groups.
Theres a lot of fish eaten, and great shellfish.

Tassie scallops
Vegemite on buttered toast - really, guys, when you acquire the taste for this stuff (it looks like axle grease) it's pretty cool.

But a staple food, as popular as Americans' hamburgers, is the meat pie, available everywhere, cheap, and not very good - mostly gravy on a lot of pastry.

Staple is Chicken / Pork / Beef / Lamb with peas / beans, carrots and potato.

Vegemite is the strangest food they eat there and they're crazy about it. They spread it on bread like butter or jelly and eat it, except that vegemite is really a food paste made from yeast extract. If you've never tried it, I will say as an open-minded American that it's fairly nasty stuff! :)
