You can either used tabbed browsing or click on file then new window. You can also use the "apple key" n shortcut to open a new window of any application that is selected.

you can simply turn on tabbed browsing and have multiple websites open in a single window or also go to file and select to open new window.......when you have safari open the options for safari show up on the top "taskbar", from there you can change the options.

OS X won't let Safari open, if it is already running.

In Safari, click on Help and look for Keyboard Shortcuts. Then, look for Open New Tab.

(Try Commamd+Shift +right square bracket)
