Patrol Torpedo.
A small speed boat (invariably made from wood products) that was used to attack the enemy in WWII, being fast, they could get in close to ships and manually launch a torpedo at the ship.
They were expendible, in that they only had a small crew and the boats did not cost that much to build. When you consider that it might only cost the lives ofseveral men and a wooden boat to diasable a large naval vessel, compared to the lives of hundreds of men on a vessel that may have been worth millions of dollars

A PT boat was a motor torpedo boat (hull classification symbol "PT", for "Patrol Torpedo"), a small, fast vessel used by the United States Navy in World War II to attack larger surface ships. The PT boat squadrons were nicknamed "the mosquito fleet".
Among the famous PT boats, was PT-109, commanded by future United States President John F. Kennedy, a PT-103 class torpedo boat, hundreds of which were built between 1942 and 1945.

PT stands for Patrol Torpedo. Meaning a patrol boat that has torpedos as it's main armament. There were also PG's PF's and PGM's. Patrol boat guns Patrol boat Frigate and patrol baot guided missile. These are some of tghe examples of patrol boats that have been in naval service.
