Totally agree with you. Plus the CAB also take on the "hopeless" cases that the private firms won't.

Speakin g from experience, sometimes its really hard to admit to a problem with debts - there are now large numbers of charities and webistes that can assist youw ith debts without having to pay for the service. Although this is also a service offered by the CAB it is increasinglyt hard to get an appointment to see anyone there and once you admit there is a problem with monewy you need to tackle it head on -
The CCCS are brilliant and there are many forums on www.moneysavingexpert.com which wil help people who dont have 4 hours a day to sit in the CAB office to wait for a cardiganed old lady to try and help them in her disapproving manner!!

Because the Citizen's Advice show don't advertise on day time TV, as most of people in loads of debt have no jobs!

because they dont know better/

for example, this little known piece of govt legislation that allows you to write off up to 70% of your debt, is an IVA which a - hits your credit history almost as hard as a bankruptcy and b - has to be agreed by over 75% of your creditors, so that (not you, or the govt) have to decide how much you can write off.

but it makes the adverts look attractive.
