Afterwards he told me that he has had feelings for me for quite a while now. I think I have feelings for him too, but now he says that he 'can't be with me at the moment because he needs to sort his head out. Why would he bother to tell me that he actually has feelings for me if he doesn't want anything else to happen?

From what you describe, he is not necessarily saying he doesn't want anything else to happen. He just needs time to put things into perspective. Your friendship itself will never be the same as it was before you slept together. On the other hand, he may be trying to break it to you gently that he cares but doesn't want anything more than friendship with you. You have to determine which it is by observing his behavior and listening to your gut feeling.

You should not be confused. You did what you wanted to do at the time and it's gone. He is not your boyfriend/lover, but a friend you just decided to sleep with at the spur of the moment. A guy will not respect you ever when something like that happens. So you have made a mistake and as far as any relationship with this guy is concerned, it is over. Please look elsewhere but do not do it again unless you just want physical satisfaction that is not tied to any longer-term thing. Good luck!

Just let it go. Men can be fickle, too. Now, act as though it's no big deal and see him running back to you. Don't fall for it the second time. Maybe the two of you can continue to be friends. Time will tell.

If he doesn't want to have anything to do with you, he wouldn't have been so upfront and told you about his feelings. He could have had a bad experience with relationships prior to this and he probably wants to straighten his thoughts out before starting another relationship. give him time and soon you'll know if you both are meant to be!
