I've been trying to translate this but it is above my head, can anyone help? It's part of a comedy skit, thank you!!

Man: Ok, where were we?
Woman: You see, you forget things sometimes and I don't get at you for it!

Man: I remember. In Elvis Presley's day they said 'baby'.
Woman: You mean, when men went to bed with another woman every night and got divorced every two years? Are you still some kind of Macho?
Man: No, that has nothing to do with it, I mean people used to say 'baby'.
Woman: Aha, you mean men used to say 'baby'. I knew it
Woman: That you're a macho?
Man: Because I said 'man'?
Woman: Exactly!
Man: Well, I can't help that! It was people before me invented the word 'man'.
Woman: Correction, it was the men before, not the people.
Man: That's got nothing to do with it!

NB. The joke doesn't work in English because it plays on the similarity between the German words, 'man' (pronoun: people, one, they) and 'Mann' (man as in an adult male).

Man: OK, where did we pause?
Woman: You see? you also forget such and I dont blame you same way.

Man: Now I know again; They have at Elvis Presley time said 'baby'!
Woman: At the time when the men used to go to bed each day with some other and used to divorce every two years? You too are now a macho?
Man: No, furthermore your story has nothing to do with the fact that people used to say 'baby'
Woman Aha that it was used to say 'baby', I said, did you know?
Woman: That you are a macho!
Man: There I can not help! The people before had invented that word, not I
Woman: Correction: not the people before, but the men before!
Man: It doesn't come to the case

The other translation is total bunk, don't even read it.

I can translate this for you, just not right now. And...it won't work, this whole joke is based on the fact that the German word for "one" as in "one must wash one's hands before eating" is the same sound as the word for man, and that it's therefore sexist.

He says "in elvis presley's time, one would say 'baby'" and then the woman gives him a hard time about being sexist, ad absurdum.
