My family and I have been burning CDs for a month or three with the Windows Media Player 10 and I've had no trouble at all. Then last night, my husband tried to burn a CD and all it does is "inspect" the first song for a while then stops. I've even been to MS's website and followed their instructions for burning a CD. Same trouble. ANYONE have a clue what the heck's going on with this thing?? This is very frustrating. Help!

When Microsoft products work well and then suddenly stop working well for no apparent reason, it very often means a system file got damaged. About a week ago, my WMP 10 just stopped working. No viewing, no recording, nothing. Didn't matter if I clicked on the desktop shortcut icon, on the program in the start menu, nothing helped. So I just reinstalled it. Right over itself. I figured it was already broke so what did I have to lose. Took about 10 minutes and whatever wasn't working got fixed. I'm guessing the download repaired or replaced any bad files and ignored everything else. You might give that a try, too.

Of course, this is assuming your CD/DVD burner isn't broken. Have you tried viewing/recording other media?
