I am going to the hairdressers after and I want blonde highlights put in. All my friends say I shouldn't do it because it would spoil my dark hair. I think it looks boring as it is! Do you think natural hair colour is better or should I go for highlights?

it's your own decision... just do what u think it's ok.
it's your hair! and even if u don't like your highlights after a while. u can color them into black or brown again :]
and my friend's hair still "live" after bleachin blonde highlights out of black hair. she still bleaches some again and again. it's no problem!

I've been in the exact same situation and I did highlights and I've regretted it ever since!!
Same as you I thought that my hair was boring...just dark and curly, I wanted that something original so I did red highlights. The thing is that now the dye has slipped off and just strands of orange bleached hair are left which I think are a mess!!!
the only way to remove them is to fully dye...I do not want to fully dye my hair as I fear that it'll dehydrate and become frizzy, so I'm stuck with these annoying orange strands :-(
So my advice is not to do it, but at the end of it all, its up to you to decide.

If you have really dark hair don't go too light on the blonde since it won't look natural. With dark hair red can be a nice color to use.
