I keep getting confusing information about needing a car seat for my daughter or not! She will be 5 years old when we go and average height for her age. Do I need a proper car seat or a can I take a Booster seat for her? Is it age or height restrictions in Florida?

To be safe, any child under 4'9 should be in either a child safety seat or a booster seat if theyve outgrown the other.

At 5, your child should be in a booster seat, you can pick one up with a minimum weight of 35lbs for less than $20 at Walmart.

4. What is Florida's Child Restraint Law?

All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. (FL Statute 316.613).
