The biggest thing they are known for is that 144,000 is the number of the annoited who will actually go to heaven. They believe that those 144,000 (all men) have already been born and most have died. I think there are some still alive, but they are very old now. They get this from a very literal and narrow translation of Revelation.
All the others that they recruit (they are some 4 million JWs) will never go to heaven but live in paradise here on earth.
One thing they didn't address is that if you take that verse in Revelation seriously, the 144,000 should not only be men, but also be Jewish and virgins. Most of the annointed did not meet this criteria.
According to their website, they believe that Jesus was inferiro to God (therefore not God as Christians believe).
They believe he died on a stake and not a cross.
It goes on, read for yourself from the website below.

They're almost the same, but not entirely.
Jehovah's witnesses don't believe in blood transfusions, and believe that during the rapture 400,000 men and no women will be taken up.
They also don't believe in celebrating ANY holidays, even ones like Independence day which has nothing to do with religion.
They are also more strict in ways of dress, relationships, marriage and child raising.
I had a friend who could not hold his girlfriends hand or be alone with her until they were married.
Christians are less strict.

Please allow me, as one of JW, to correct some misconceptions.
(1) The number of individuals going to Heaven to rule with Christ is 144,000. It can be found in Revelation 14:1. The do not go up to heaven in some sort of mass rapture, but rather attain their heavenly reward when they die. The rest of us hope to attain everlasting life on a restored earth. This was the home God originally gave us. This is where we belong
2) Jehovah's Witnesses are not a sect. Sects follow human leaders. David Koresh, Muqtada al Sadr etc. We follow our Lord Jesus Christ. Yes we believe in him. And as far as I know there is only one Lord and Savior.
3) Yes, we stay away from blood transfusions. It is a scriptural command.
4) About the use of the name, Jehovah. The name has been in Bibles long before Jehovah's Witnesses ever appeared on the scene. The KJV of 1611 & 1769 have it; the JN Darby Translation of 1890 has it; The Noah Webster trans. of 1830 and a number of others. The problem is that the name has been removed from modern translations. If you pick up a modern day translation, you might find a note in the forward that says "where the name Jehovah appeared it has been replaced with LORD in all caps.
(5) There are actually some 6.5 million JW's worldwide now. As far as all annointed having to be Jewish etc. Please take note of Galatians 3:8 - "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one person in union with Christ Jesus."
I hope that helps you.

JW's believe that "Jehovah" is God's actual name. It is actually a German (language) mistransliteration of the Hebrew YHWH (pronounced "Yah-Way"), or Tetragrammatton.
Most importantly, JW's believe that salvation is a result of good works, and not a gift recieved from God, as is the case in Christian doctrine.
This can be a confusing point. Christianity certainly DOES stress the importance of good works. Those who claim to know Christ should show it through their actions. However, those actions do not "EARN" salvation, they DISPLAY salvation.
There are other points, but that is a biggie!

If we truly had freedom of religion there would be no need for anyone to explain the difference between religious belief. One of the sins of humanity is our lack of ability to worship God as we understand him. Instead we like to critizise others belief system. Regardless of what religion we have we are all sinful humans who fall very short of the glory of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses could say they are the only real church and there is no different church to evaluate them against as a results of fact they are it! indexed decrease than are a number of their center ideals: • Jehovah is the single real God. • They deny the Trinity. • Jesus replaced into an exalted guy that God used to create the earth, yet Jesus himself is a created being—no longer God. • Jesus has divine attributes, yet is in simple terms god-like. • while Jehovah raised Jesus from the lifeless, Jesus replaced right into a spirit-being, no longer a actual being. • The Holy Spirit isn't a individual, yet a stress. • in simple terms one hundred forty four,000 human beings will bypass to heaven—in many situations this incorporates in simple terms JW's alive in 1935. • different committed JW's could have eternal existence on paradise earth. All others crumble at dying. • there is no hell. • All "religions" as properly JW are of the devil.
