Does anybody read the 5-6 page answers provided in this section most of which are cut and pasted from somebody else's work?

you all have a brain come up with your own answers or at least give credit to your source in the box provided.

Is it not a sin to steal the works of others or does it not count when your source is fiction based?

There are only two reasons people post longer than 2000 characters:

1) Scientific and/or technical explanations. This is understandable because sometimes it's the only way to explain the point.

2) Dimwit godbots doing a cut-and-paste. They do it because they're not smart enough to write anything of worth by themselves.

Well I do generally find them annoying. Although in a few cases I sympathise.

Sometimes it's real difficult to provide a short answer! For example, when someone asks about my beliefs. Since I don't follow a particular religion I can't just say 'oh, I'm a baptist' or whatever. I need to go into some detail to give a reasonable flavour.

So I aim for a quick overview and then links that I think will help. But even then I isn't always as short as I'd like!

But cut and paste? Keep it to a minimum I think!

I don't like to give long answers mainly because I don't think tht people have a real interest in what they are asking. Sometimes I have to give what I would refer to as a long answer. The subject matter demands it IF I want to give a good answer. All the worlds questions don't need to be answered that way, but some of them do.

But consider how much someone might know about something. If they are answering honestly, the answer HAS to be long at times.

The society that I live in continues to be in a hurry. All the problems of the world are explained on the News in not more than two minute reports. WHY? Because people don't make time to understand anything that takes longer than that.

It's our loss as a society.

I'm one of those people who sometimes uses a long answer for a question on here. However, I do NOT copy and paste, and if I do, I credit whoever wrote it. I would say that nearly all of my long answers were written entirely by me. There might be one or two where I copied and pasted a paragraph, but that's it.
Anyway, there is NOTHING wrong with long answers, so long as the question requires it. And believe me, many of the questions on here require a long answer.

And what do you mean by "fiction based?"

I don't have an issue with long answers, but I agree that they need to give credit to the source. I've seen many answers that indicate there is no way the answerer came up with this much info without getting it from somewhere....theoretically, it is plagiarism

In an attempt to look scholarly and intellectual ( or maybe to be mistaken as a member of Mensa ), some answerers resort to CUT and PASTE as proof that they are very well read individuals.

- Also to discourage others from looking at answers that come below them... :)

No sh*t huh?
I just gave one a thumbs down just so I could get it out of the way so it wouldn't take me 57 hours to scroll to the bottom of the page.

Sometimes, people are too lazy to post the source. And they think people don't bother to check the link.
