I have worked in nightclubs for years, and there have always been girls there who buy one drink and expect men to buy the rest. It is kind of pathetic, but they usually get them. Some guys may be hoping to get them drunk, and some may just be happy to have someone to have a drink with. Personally, I go out with my friends and we all take turns buying rounds that goes for the guys and the girls.

Girls ask guys to buy them drinks because that is the old way. Back in the day, the women wouldn't hardly even be seen in taverns unless they were prostitutes. So men would offer a lady a drink as a way of saying they are interested. This evolved into women asking men for a drink as a way for women to let men know they were available. Nowadays, women like both sides of the fence and adhere to the old way when it comes to such etiquettes. They can get their drinks for free if they are hot enough, and not have to repay the favor.

You're right, unless you're friends with a girl or at least you're acquainted with her, it's bad taste for her to ask you for drinks. Even me and my girlfriends pay our own drinks at the bar, unless our guy friends offer to pay.

it's just something girls have taken advantage of, because they can get away with it often...they don't necessarily have any sexual interest in the guy...it's called USING someone. that's it--unless they just want attention so the guy will do 'em.
