first of all you have to accept responsibility....you poisoned the relationship with the family by choosing drugs. Also you have to accept that she holds all the cards (rightfully) on what kind of relationship she wants to have with you. THIS IS NOT ABOUT YOU. I havent seen my dad for 13 years and if he were to come back he would need patience and I would have to see some real remorse about his actions before I could forgive him. I have also had run in with drugs so I know that drug use is a selfish disease and it's really easy to play the victim card.....be patient, take it slow, follow her lead, and mostly the best way to prove you have changed is to lead a clean life

Thats great news CONGRADULATIONS.
I am a 27yr old female, and have lived through a similar situation my father loved a drink and left when i was little they where both young but my mum never put crap on him,i then grew up with my sisters father who was a heroin addict.and seen all kinds of things before my time.he left due to the addiction and contacts my sisters like once every couple of years.
it destroys them.and mum and i to see it.but yet i still feel a soft spot for the time he was in my life.

I would say take your time getting to know each other,be truthful as mum probley has said all kinds of things about you so be truthful from word go about your past.open up to her tell her how much you love and missed her.dont be to pushy allow her time you have always been in her heart and always will be no matter what.

i wish you luck you sound like a changed man wanting to reunite with your loving daughter i only wish my sisters father could try as you have.

CHEERS MATE AND ALL THE BEST.

Just keep in mind that she may not see you as her father so the relationship will take some getting used to for the both of you. Be yourself and if she asks you questions about anything answer them honestly to gain her trust.

ex addcit of what?
Stay away from your daughter. She doesn't need a toxic person like you in her life. Move on and leave the kid alone.
