There is no should or should not about it. You do just as you want! If it is a formal occassion I guess you would serve a starter such as soup or something easy to prepare and digest before following with your lamb, vegetables and some carbohydrate such as rice or pasta or potatoes - depending on how the rest pans out, and finish with a light pudding or cheese and biscuits.

I have such a small appetite that just writing this is making me feel bloated. You want to feed your family or guests, but you do not want to make them feel ill or sleepy from obliging them to over indulge to be "polite"!

Thank God we do not live in the olden days where 25 courses and more were the norm!!

This should be filling if served with roast vegetables and greens, so something light for desert, maybe fresh fruit salad with sorbet, or apple pie and custard. Then no heartburn.
