You need to eat more. Try eating more small meals instead of just a single one.
What's happening with you is that you're starving your body and it's storing the calories instead of burning it. You need to start up your metabolism.
You say your body is in shape. Do you have a lot of muscle? If so, remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Try getting a body fat calculation. Weight doesn't mean everything and just because you have a high weight doesn't mean you're fat.

In the first place, if you feel active and healthy, you should not bother much about this. Would also advice to get your cholesterol level checked. And if there is no problem, do not worry about being "theoretically on the heavier side".
Is one meal really enough? Do you not feel weak?
I would rather
1. Make sure I eat properly - the right quantity and the right food (more veggies and more fruits and more fiber foods like oats)
2. Drink a lot of water
3. Walk or do some other aerobic exercises to keep the weight off.
In short, get yourself checked for the right parameters and then make a decision. You probably need to include exercise in your daily routine - and make sure that the "one" meal that you have is made of the right food - as mentioned above.
Good Luck - i saw more useful stuff on some sites like ediets.com, diethealthclub.com, webmd.com - they give you more such information that you can use on a regular basis.

The no. of meals do not matter but it is the Quantity and the Type of foods that you eat and your level of Activity at work and home which enables you to burn the extra calories.
If you eat foods with High Glycemic Index, meaning thereby that foods which easily get digested into glucose as compared to the others, than all the extra calories generated thereby get stored as fats. Some of these foods are rice, potatoes, refined carbohydrates and sweets.
Urban man while succeeding in reducing his physical workload as compared to the rural folks has still maintained the Quantity of foods eaten as same as their's. Besides, with excessive refinement and processing, the overall Quality of food has deteriorated leading to many illnesses, the commonest of them being Obesity.
Besides, though the stress-levels have increased perceptively even leading to frank Depression, most of the City-Dwellers are leading a more or less Sedentry lives. While the former mainly leads to excessive-eating of the wrong foods which heartens them, the later adds fats to their bodies due to unutilised calories.
From the above one can deduce why you are not loosing weight as follows:
1) Binging at the one meal that you take.
2) Eating the wrong types of food i.e. with Hi Gly. Index or foods cooked in transfats.
3) Having a sedentry-job with high stress-levels.
4)Having no time or inclination for physical activities.
5)You are depressed and so unconsciously binging on sugar which gives comfort.
Once you have identified the reasons for your problem you can begin by eating Healthy and leading a more physically active life.

You are not eating enough, so your metabolism has slowed right down and your body has gone into starvation mode. This means your body is storing all the fat it can instead of burning it. If you want to loose weight you need to eat more but make sure you are eating the correct foods. Try eating a small meal every 3 hours. Make sure every meal has fats protein and carbs and include plenty of fruit and veg. Avoid fried food, refined carbs, creamy foods including ful fat dairy and junk food (chips, sweets, choc etc). You need to get your metabolism working again before you can start to loose weight.

Your body thinks you're starving it, so it retains all the calories you give it instead of burning them normally. You need to eat 2-3-or even 4 small meals instead of one. The more you eat (of the right foods) the more energy you burn digesting it, and thus you loose weight.
Up your meals, not with high fat foods, but more protein and fruits, veggies, and you'll see. Also, if it took you several years to gain weight, it's going to take as long to loose it. Be patient. Do you exercise? You don't say, except you're in shape? well....good luck.

first of all start having smalls meals throughout the day to keep up your energy level and also to speed up your metabolism.having one meal a day is not the way to lose weight.start your day with a healthy breakfast consisting of cereals, milk, fresh friuts.try not to skip your breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day. although its good to have your lunch but if you have a proper breakfast, sometimes it doesn't matter if you skip lunch.try to have something light.also drink lots of water throughout the day and avoid aerated drinks as these add empty calories.instead have freshly squezed lemon juice.for dinner have soup or something light. u also need to engage in some physical activity to keep your body fit. its not necessary to join a gym, u can also burn calories by playing some sport u like or u can also join a dance class.take long walks.enjoy whatever u do to get good results.and do remember that your body need different nutrients to keep it going, so eat properly !

in simple terms ingesting as quickly as an afternoon isnt going to make you drop pounds, in actuality it could do the ideal opposite. try ingesting 6 small nutrients an afternoon. Like a bagel or fruit interior the am, a yogurt snack, some turkey and vegetables for lunch, gentle crackers for snack, then a hearty dinner (healthful), then possibly some cheese cubes. in simple terms an occasion. ensure you're getting atleast 30 min of exercising an afternoon, whether that be strolling, strolling, stair stepping, etc. additionally, attempt to no longer consume until now going to mattress. You physique digests nutrition slower once you sleep.

If you're in shape and toned, don't worry. If you have a lot of fat in your midsection, then you should be concerned but being healthy and in shape and weighing more than a BMI chart says you should isn't an indication of being overweight. Those charts do not take into account muscle. Many bodybuilders and professional athletes are considered "overweight" or even "obese" according to weight charts. Obviously they are anything but!

Go for a morning walk daily. Whilst in the park, join a 'Laughter Club"--where people laugh heartily and vigorously for about 20 minutes, till the faces are red with fresh blood flow in the face, the folds of flesh on your abdomen, sides, and neck shake and shiver with free-throated laughter!.........and that would burn MORE calories for you than 1/2 hour of jogging, or physical exercises! Your weight will miraculously reduce in ONE month!
But DO it--not merely read about it!
ACTION is the magic word!
