High fructose corn syrup is very simple sugars or " fast" sugars.
They are metabolized very fast in the system versus the complex ones. Sugars are converted into its simplest form of blood glucose for absorption and for energy metabolism. High Fructose corn syrup has been known to promote obesity and diabetes thru hyperglycemia ( high levels of floating blood glucose)

Excessive consumption of sugar has been shown to:

=suppress the immune system, contributing to a weakened defense against bacterial infection.
-upset the body's mineral balance - lead to chromium and copper deficiencies and interfere with absorption of calcium and magnesium.
=cause hormonal imbalance, depression and hypertension.
increase the body's fluid retention.
=cause HEADACHES, including migraines and increase delat, alpha and theta brain waves, which can alter the mind's ability to think clearly.
=raise adrenaline levels in children, contribute to hyperactivity, anxiety, depression, and difficulties with concentration.
=cause drowsiness and decreased activity in children

Plus the fact that high fructose corn syrup being in liquid form is metabolized faster than in crystalline form which is solid.
