I have very dry, brittle, frizzy, poofy and unmanagable hair. I want to get that "shaggy" look but everytime i grow my hair out it does exactly that, it grows OUT. I go to salons and try to get the right hair products but nothing works for me. It looks like im trying to grow an afro. I have seen tons of other guys that have generally the same hair texture as me get that shaggy look but when i go for it, it looks like a fro and/or that i just dont cut my hair. I am in need of assistance!!!

...you need to first find out what products are good for your hair type...try a deep conditioning too to help with it being dry, brittle, etc...also ask about what product you can use to help the hair weigh down and fall the way you want it...then go to the right salon for the style you desire...maybe you need what some call thinning...after the cut you want is put in your hair ... a comb with a razor in it is ran through the hair to take some od the fullness or bulk out of the look...and see if you can get a razor cut...because if your hair is thick and you get it cut straight across this will also make it poof out because the hair is so thick and on top of that you have a blunt cut on the ends which adds to the thick appearance...if you feel comfortable asking one of the guys with your texture where they got their hair done then ask them...

You might have to try straightening it - maybe with the hairdryer or a straightenign iron in order to get rid of the 'poofiness' first, flatten it out, and then add the product in order to get the shag look .....The shag look is usually done to create texture and make hair look thicker, so if your hair is already thick you might have to flatten it first, and then shag it up ....
