If you desire to be Catholic you have made the perfect choice. It is difficult to explain the whole Catholic faith to you in Yahoo answers. There are some nice, knowledgeable people who have answered above whom you could contact and have a discussion with. Also attending the R.C.I.A programme at your Catholic church will increase your knowledge of the faith.
The Catholic church is the original Church instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ in the year 33. All other christian churches are man-made and will not assure you salvation.
The true Church is also to be known from Her origin, which She derives under the law of grace from the Apostles; for Her doctrines are neither novel nor of recent origin, but were delivered of old by the Apostles and disseminated throughout the world." – Catechism of the Council of Trent (16th Century)
The following compelling sermon by Fr.Arnold Damen will make you happy about your choice:

For more info on the Catholic faith go to :
http://www.fatima.org/
http://www.olrl.org/
You will find interesting articles here to read and you wont stop reading and learning. . You can also ask a Catholic how to pray the Rosary, a powerful prayer against Satan.
. I hope your grandmother is feeling better now

There are many great options to learn about Catholicism. My first recommendation would be to contact your local parish and ask about the RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is where you can meet with other people just like you who are considering joining the church. You'll be able to learn more and get answers, then make the decision if you want to move forward.
Also, you should attend Mass and find one that really suits your situation. Do your kids need child care during mass? Find the mass that offers that. Are they older and you want to find a mass that offer children's liturgy? Most parishes have that too, as well as one geared towards junior high/high school aged kids. We've been through them all!
I will be praying for your grandma. I'm sure she would love to know you want to become a catholic. You should tell her.
God bless!
PS - you asked why I would reply if I had no info for you. I guess the best answer to that would be to say that converting to Catholicism has no easy answers, and you have to be willing to do the legwork. Catholics aren't big on quick conversions; they have a process, but that's because they want you to make the decision for all the right reasons. I wasn't trying to be flippant. I honestly think this is the best way for you to get the answers you need.
Take care, and good luck.

Talk to a priest from the parish you will be attending mass, if you do eventually choose to become Catholic. Tell him you are interested in becoming a Catholic. He will give you information about the parish R.C.I.A. program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults).
Some good Catholic websites include:
www.catholic.com
This is a Catholic apologetics website that specializes in answering questions (both honest and loaded) about the Catholic faith.
www.scripturecatholic.com
This website explains, verse by verse, Biblical origin for Catholic beliefs and practices. While is it geared towards refuting popular Protestant-driven accusations, you can still learn about about the Catholic faith in general.
www.newadvent.com
This is the Catholic Encyclopedia online.
www.scborromeo.org/ccc.htm
This is the Catechism of the Catholic Church online. The Catechism is the primary teaching tool for Catholic beliefs, practices, and Doctrines.
http://www.amm.org/chss.htm
This website offers free correspondance courses in Catholic Theology. Courses are free.
Hope this helps.

Yes, I am, although I am not immune to occasional doubts.
However, I recommend that you go to a bookstore and buy what is called a catechism. A true Catholic Catechism would have an "Imprimatur" on the edition page up front, meaning that what is claimed in the book is officially sanctioned by the Catholic Church and represents Catholic beliefs accurately.
If you have any problems understanding or accepting anything therein, you should follow up with a priest or other trusted source to your satisfaction.
I would say prayer and a certain amount of faith are essential in your spiritual quest. Best of luck.
ADDED: NOW LOOK! You are gonna HAVE to drop the habit of calling folks turds! lol

Hi, I'm Catholic. Okay, maybe you should go to mass every once in awhile and talk to a priest and/or nun. I'm sure they will be more than happy to explain things to you. You could maybe even join a sort of bible class. Also, ask the priest if he can recommend a Catholic book store where you can buy books explaining the Catholic religion. Talk to Catholics (not ex-Catholics because they'll only say negative things). Hope this helps hun.

Well, first you go to your nearest catholic church and give the priest there a lot of money for "charity", then you can get your hair wet by their blessed water, tell the same priest, behind a fly-screened cubicle all your awful sins, eat an awful piece of soft, cardboard-tasting waffle, drink a sip of really expensive Port wine (if he lets you), then you'll probably have to say 10 Hail Mary's, Two Our Father's and sing A Partridge on a Pear Tree. Only then is your soul ready for Heaven- like a 5-star resort with all your sweetest dreams on fluffy clouds in the sky.
Then (and this is the fundamental thing that many catholics forgot about!), read the whole bible- old and new testaments, any edition, and make a list of all the morals you find in its complicated narration. And don't write the ones that you know in your heart were only written to apease the people of 10th Century, by a single, rich, overbearing middle-to-late old man. So your list should be considerably shorter, but still relevant and important in today's age.
Then you can go about your everyday without "needing" any of the material possessions everyone is trying to sell you to lead a more "peaceful" life, because you have found Jesus, and he was the poorest carpenter's son this side of the temple of the Jews (whose toran inspired the bible), who walked into a sacred discussion hall reserved for the wealthiest Spiritual Leaders (I've forgotten how to say 'priest' in Jewish, Kebab or something!) and began to sermon them on the word of god, saying they had abused their given power and that they should return the wealth to the poor people who worked their land. Well! The first proverbial "****" hit the fan [which was a small boy fanning a Palm leaf over those Guru's(?)], because these rich guys told the emperor to kill him ASAP or they would not recieve the 25% (which was only 15% 'cos they cheated even the King!) off their land, trades and meat. So, the emperor's kill Jesus on a cross (a custom there like hanging- used for public entertainment- now we call them Stadiums where big oafs bash eachother over an out-of-shape ball). But, the story doesn't finish here! Jesus comes back from the dead three days after he was crucified (thus the begining of Zombie movies- the best being Shaun of the Dead) and says he's the Holy Spirit.
"Well Holy Sheep!" said the Jews.
"Well! Holy Bejingas!" said Jesus' followers.
And 100 or so years later some King called Constantine wrote all of this information down in the first manuscript of the Bible, as we know it (and we don't really know "it", if you know what I mean!).
Then the state separates from the Church, the Church gets bored, the state needs a war, match made in heaven, we all get all the religious wars in our history...
And there's more!
Now, as soon as the church was only mentioned quietly under ones breath, a guy writes a fiction (based on some facts) about Jesus having a wife and son/daughter. State creates terrorists in the form of Muslim, everyone is calling everyone else the devil, bombs go off, wars begin, and the church is recruiting again while the state is making its largest payoff in history.
Bada Bing Bada Ba!
And you said we couldn't judge a person on what their spiritual beliefs were! Ha! Tell that to all the anti-christ people in the afterlife: Jews, Muslims, Hindu's, Buddhists, etc. etc (counting the cruzades).
My suggestion: read! Read as much as you can on different beliefs and philosophies before you become as stubborn as the rest.
Be like a bamboo so you can bend with change, not like an oak, firmly rooted to the ground you stand; that way when strong winds come you won't tumble!

I am Anglo-Catholic, but not Roman. Here is a good website to find answers. It is really meant for serious students, so might be a bit more than you are looking for.
http://www.newadvent.org/
The best thing to do is to call a Roman Catholic church near you and ask when their next catechism classes are for Adults. There is a lot to learn and it can not be told in this small space.

Pastor Billy says: That's wonderful you are investigating the Catholic faith, the faith of your ancestors. Catholicism is of course a bible church simply because it is the Catholic Church which gave the bible to the others calling themselves Christian. Secondly ignore the angry anti-catholic and sometimes ex-catholic(Jill) who respond. Ignore the person pushing 7th day adventism a pseudo christian sect which is extremely paranoid, regularly slanders Catholics and has been proven false with false prophecy from the 1800's I have the links if you wish to look at them.
Take a look at my answers and questions I regularly engage some very difficult people who enjoy attacking Catholicism and posting false comments about our faith and doctrine. For example contrary to Jill's comments there is no idol worship in Catholicism in fact one can be excommunicated for it. If a Catholic practises it it is not because the Church encourages idol worship or supports the practise. see some the sources I've listed below or come and join the following forum I write on with many Protestant converts to Catholicism. :)

It looks like you have not received many good replies about Catholicism and I did not know if you have given up on your question or not.
A good place to start is by going to about.com site on Catholicism - http://catholicism.about.com/od/catholicoverview/Catholic_Overview.htm
Once you have read a lot there go to http://www.americancatholic.org and read some of the articles on that site. There is a lot of articles for Catholics and it might give you some insight towards the faith.
A good book to read is Catholicism for Dummies. Very informative.
Or you can instant messenger me - everydaycatholic and I will reply once I get back home.

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.
You can go and ask any questions you want.
This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.
There is no obligation to become a Catholic.
With love and prayers in Christ.
