If you have tried prescription ointments/lotions and they don't help, then try some hydrocortisone cream you can buy over the counter. Also, for the itching, make a paste of baking soda and water (get it the consistency of glue) and apply it several times a day. It may help with drying up the exzema. I'm sure, also, there are products over the counter that are for exzema, you can try that. Also for the itching you can try some caladryl, which is a lotion that contains benadryl in liquid form (an antihistamine).
Other than this, I don't know. It's pretty much trial and error. Keep trying a wide variety of products until you get one that works. I also suggest you go to the library and get some books on skin conditions and natural remedies. There's bound to be other natural rememdies you can try. Good luck.

I have had eczema for years and tried various prescriptions, etc. The number one thing that works for me is hydrocortisone cream. It is very effective and inexpensive. You can buy it over the counter at a drug store or grocery store and you can get the generic hydrocortisone, which is only a couple of dollars a tube. Get the cream that has moisturizers in it. Put it on your eczema right after you take a shower. You can put it on again later in the day if the itching returns. It will definitely help with the dry skin and will stop the itching for hours. If you have eczema on your scalp, you can rub it in your scalp too. Also, Nizoral AD, a dandruff shampoo, will really help if you have that problem. It is kind of expensive, but it works.

Also, eczema can be made worse by anxiety and stress, so don't stress out about those kids. Ignore them and be confident that they really are a bunch of idiots.

Treatment
Once eczema is diagnosed, a treatment plan will be made based on:

Type and severity of the eczema present

Age, health, and medical history (including presence of other conditions)

History of previous treatment

The primary goal of treatment is to relieve discomfort by controlling the signs and symptoms. Since eczema is usually dry and itchy, most treatment plans involve applying lotions, creams, or ointments to keep the skin as moist as possible. The treatment plan also may require lifestyle modifications and using medication as directed.

A topical (applied to the skin) medication may be prescribed to help relieve itching and inflammation. Another way to treat the itch is with a non-sedating antihistamine. If itching is severe, a sedative antihistamine may be recommended. Skin infections caused by bacteria, such as staphylococcus aureus (staph) or streptococcal (strep), are treated with an antibiotic. Some antibiotics are applied to the skin; others come in pill or liquid form. An antiviral is prescribed to treat an infection caused by a virus. The antiviral medication may come in topical, pill, or liquid form. It also may be given as a shot. An infection caused by a fungus is treated with an antifungal medication.

Try Aveeno lotion with oatmeal. It's expensive, but sometimes you can find the Equate version of that at Wal-Mart.

I had a friend who told me that her doctor recommended swimming in a chlorinated pool. He said the chlorine would help her skin, and I believe it did.
