GARLIC is one of the strongest natural antibiotics. It is used for earache, ear infection, sore throat, chest congestion, thrush, staph and strep infections, etc. If you have an ear infection, it is far better to use a natural antibiotic, as bacteria easily develop resistance to man-made antibiotics because they are too simple.
EARACHE AND EAR INFECTION:
*** Peel a garlic clove and insert it into the opening of your ear (as you would a hearing aide). Do this as often as needed. This may take up to an hour to see results, but I have a friend who prefers this method every time she gets an earache. OR YOU CAN...
***Warm some garlic oil to a comfortable temperature (at least room temperature) and put a couple of drops into an infected/achy ear. Also massage some oil into the skin around the ear and on the neck. This allows the oil to absorb into the lymph nodes. If you use cold oil it will cause more pain. Do this as often as desired. You can buy the oil already prepared or you can make it yourself.
COMMERCIAL GARLIC OIL
***If you buy it already made, there are a couple of things to remember. If the garlic is still in the oil, you must either strain it out to store it at room temperature or, if you leave the garlic in the oil, you must refrigerate the oil. Then every two weeks heat the garlic and oil to a very hot temperature and place it back into the refrigerator. If you do not wish to go through the pains, then use it as much as possible in the first two weeks and then discard the remaining oil. This is because botulism spores can grow on the garlic that is in the oil. This can not happen if you take the garlic out of the oil-there is nothing for the bacteria to attach itself to. The oil may solidify in the refrigerator, but if you sit it out for a while at room temperature it will soon turn to liquid again.
MAKE IT YOURSELF
Prepare a simple garlic oil to keep on hand for future use.
1 bottle olive oil
3-4 cloves garlic, peeled and quartered
Drop garlic slices into olive oil and close tightly. Let bottle sit in a dark place for 2-3 days. Strain out all of the garlic and store the bottle at room temperature. You can refrigerate it, but it will solidify. Just set it on the counter and it will begin to return to its liquid state.
OR-To make it quicker. You can bake the garlic in oil in the oven and it will only take an hour. It will probably smell better, too.
1 ½ cup garlic cloves
2 ½ cups extra virgin olive oil
Pre-heat oven to 350°F. Add whole, peeled garlic cloves to casserole dish and immerse in olive oil. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until garlic is golden in color and oil is bubbling. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Gently scoop out the roasted garlic cloves. Strain oil into a separate container.
(You can eat the garlic cloves-spread them on toast.)
