Vowels in French can have 3 types of "little comma" on the top - the correct name is "accents".

The accent on the last "e" of "beauté" is called an accute accent - on my Windows keyboard I can reproduce it either by holding down ctrl+alt at the same time as typing the "e" or by typing alt+0233 or alt+130 (é)

The letter e can also have a "grave accent" (è) which I can reproduce by typing alt+0232 or alt+138

The grave accent can also appear on the letter "a": (à) (alt+0224 or alt+133) or on "u" (ù): (alt+0249 or alt+151)

a, e, o and u can also have a "circumflex accent":
â, (alt+0226, or alt+131)
ê, (alt+0234 or alt+136)
ô, (alt+0244 or alt+147)
û, (ALT+0251 or alt+150)

On Mac: alt/option + e, then e
On Windows: alt + 130, I believe

p.s. It's not a "comma", it's an acute accent. Call it an accent mark if you must, but not a comma.

Use the "character map" under System Tools.

Here is a screen shot of where to go to access this tool if you're using Windows ME or higher. Make sure to click the picture so it becomes bigger!

Once you open the "character map" just scroll to the symbol you want/need, double click it and hit "copy." Then go back to your document and paste it (ctrl+V) where you need it to go.

Voila! :-)

Find a unicode software somewhere on the net and install it or turn on MS Word and insert the special character é.
