I have never in any sport heard announcers kiss as much *** as they did Sunday with Juan Pablo Montoya. WTF? ESPN and NASCAR are trying way too hard. Where will he be in Vegas?? Not in the top 10, I will bet on it.

pretty much all of montoyas' career have been on road course.that is where the man excells.just take a look at the mans stats in the link i provided.i will venture to say that if he has no problems in the cup series on these road courses, look for him to have top 5's or better at both

The announcers went overboard with him. 4 years ago, when he tried to drive Jeff Gordon's car, he couldn't even handle it.

As for the person who says that Nascar fans are uneducated, if I were you I would retract that statement and stay off subjects you don't know anything about.

The problem with the Montoya/Pruet incident is that they are teamates. Montoya thinks and always will that he is better than all the rest because he raced Formula 1. Wonder why he's not anymore??? Must be a reason but yesterday's performance was a good explanation why.

I agree. Yesterdays ESPN broadcast of the Busch Race should have been re-named the Juan Pablo Channel. I was beginning to wonder if there were any other drivers in the race! Juan Pablo is NASCARS new poster boy. In the US, Canada, Mexico/South America area, the leading race is Hispanic. NASCAR voiced 3 years ago that they wanted to gain the Hispanic fan base by putting a Busch Race in Mexico City, Mexico and now with Juan Pablo in the sport, they think if they huddle around him the Hispanics will come flocking to the tracks and turn their TV's to the NASCAR races. They better not do that crap in the CUP race, unless he's leading the race or theres reason to talk about him. He's a great talent and will do well in NASCAR..in time ofcourse. As for Vegas.. In the BUSCH race, Yes, Juan Pablo will finish in the top-15 I think. Now, As for the CUP race.. That's going to be a tougher road to hoe.. So I'd say in the CUP race, probably 30th or worse.. He hasn't proved that he can run well on ovals.. And until he does, I just don't think he can get a luck run.

And to EYESINTHEDRK... Pablo drove from 19th to 3rd in 6 laps, Not 3...

I am sad to read the comments about Montoya it would be no different if Danika Patrick were to come to NASCAR, they have there eye on him because he is a good driver and at this point Montoya is making big waves with the latain communities and that what NASCAR wants to do is to target differnt enthinc groups and there is nothing wrong with that. BElieve me when they even mention Montoya moving to Nascar the ticket sales with in the Latin Communities skyrocketed

While I agree that ABC/ESPN pushed Montoya down our throats yesterday it's the same thing that happens with other drivers every week! ( we all know who they are ) The real shame is that it distracted from an excellant race . Mexico City is one of the best races every year and their was some great racing Sunday ! Montoya ran great and had the best car but when 95% of the coverage is directed at one driver it wears a little thin. I muted my T.V. and turned on radio coverage and the radio guys did a great job !

the race was in Latin America they couldn't say anything, to alienate that part of the market. i think that Juan Pablo Montoya should have backed out, but the executives of ESPN and NASCAR were pulling the announcers strings on that one.

I agree. The media is all over Montoya. The guy was an ok F1 dirver and he's Columbian. NASCAR thinks this is a chance to hype the diversity effort, and it is, but lay off of it. I don't think NASCAR likes a driver who spins out his own teammate to win. That makes the sport look real good.

One of the reasons Montoya was so good is because he has had road racing experience. The other reason is because he was driving against Busch drivers, some have never been on a road course in their life. If you notice most of the top 15 drivers were Nextel Cup drivers not Busch drivers. When he gets in with the big boys on road course driving I don't think he is going to do as good. Anyway the Mexican Busch Race was so boring I watched the Godfather, it was more exciting.

WHAT THE HECK!!!!, a nascar driver spinning the car in front to take the lead ? the nerve!! this has never happened in nascar before EVER!! i mean nascar is a series about clean passing, and driver restraint. what happened to skill ? what happened to integrity, dale Earnhardt Jr and senior would never do that, nor would tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon or the bush brothers, this is an out rage when was the last time you saw dale Jr do something stupid and wipe out a team mate? OK so the guy went from 3rd to first in 3 laps and then 19th to 3rd in 3 laps later in the race

get real people and accept it as long as ganassi can give him a good car jpm is the guy to beat on a road coarse

king.chas..oh well in that case i guess he does suck

He made a "CLASSIC " move on PRUIT.I know that NASCAR fans are un-educated with racing that's not on an oval.ROAD RACING IS DIFFERENT.Even the top Nascar road racers(Gordon,Gordon,Stewart,Rudd,Martin) make the same move. You people are showing your ignorance. That pass will be made 100 times at the next CUP roadrace. If the driver being overtaken slams the door, you will have the same scenario.Watch for MONTOYA to have a TOP 5 at SEARS POINT and WATKINS GLEN.
