Wedding shower gift for sister?

Question

I need to come up with a small gift for my sister's wedding shower this weekend. I am planning to give her a more expensive one later, and nearer to the wedding. Right now, I just wnat to give her something small and personalised. I am thinking of putting together a small folder/booklet of favourite recipes she's always asked of me, household tips, etc. I just need some inspiration and ideas now on how to string it up together, what kind of material to use, etc.. I need technical craft advice!!

I like your ideas with the recipes - it's a great idea. What i have done with my recipes is I have a card system box and system cakes, I have hand written my recipes onto them and filed them alphabetically. Then that way when i get a new recipe i can just write it up and file it. It's very easy to find recipes and when cooking it's a lot easier than opening a recipe book. Another hint. I have a clothes peg with a magnet on one side that I have on the fridge, and when i cook i take the recipe card out and clip it on the fridge so it doesn't get dirty or lost while i am cooking.

I like the idea of the recipes. You can put it in a scrap book with pictures of both of you or you can start her a rolodex with the recipes for easy access. Or you can put it in a scrapbook with lots of pages with your recipes, your mother's, aunts, etc with alot of room for her to develop her own and she can start a family heirloom for her daughters.

My opinion would be to give her an album of pictures starting from when u were babies to ur adulthood. its very touching. buy an album and decorate it with ribbons and glitter. like sumthing from ur childhood. take sparkly wrapping paper ...cut it up into strips and outline the photographs.
