I have finally decided that for my family's comfort, i am going to buy a minivan. I am looking in to buying a 2006, used Dodge Grand Caravan, preferably Black. If i have to drive a van, i would like it to be black. I want people, that have owned minivans to tell me their opinions on them. Are they really comfortable, is the Stow and Go worth it? Opinions on the installed DVD players, can everyone see the screen?? Would you buy another, and if so what would you get different on it? If you think, black is a bad color choice, please tell me why. ( i am not worried about dirt showing.) Are they easy to handle, easy to park? I will be installing a child booster seat, do they fit well? Bench seats, or captains chairs in the middle row?? I prefer the captains.Does it really matter? Is the oil easy to change, or such a pain that you have to pay someone to do it? Have you been in an accident in one, what were the safety features like? Anything you can shed some light on, would be most helpful.

I love my van! Very comfy, childseats fit easily, I would definately go with stow and go options... objects tend to roll around otherwise. For me the dvd players installed.... eh not important, and the heat where I live does a number on them, I use my portable ones. The most important thing to invest in is the rear ac/heat otherwise it just gets too stuffy back there. preferences on the seats are up to you, both are comfy. I find my van way easy to drive, park and back up. because the back of the van is flat, I know exactly where I am back there, and because the front is smaller and slanted, I can easily see where I am going. I like my van better than my towncar.

I have had a 1993 Plymouth Grand Caravan for 8 years, and I am quite fond of it -- except for the transmission, which has died twice. (My transmission repair shop has a yard full of these in for repair; they are contributing nicely to his retirement fund. But the new ones are better.) The front seats are bucket, the middle ones are removable buckets, and the back seat is a bench; I usually have all of these removed. (The fold-down seats in the new models impress me as a useful feature.) The back is large enough (barely) to haul several sheets of plywood. I would avoid black; it will get very hot in the summer, and is harder to heat in the winter. I second previous responder's advice about rear heat and A/C. I have had two collsions: I backed into another vehicle once, which did a number on the back gate; I picked up a replacement at the auto graveyard and had it installed along with a complete paint job as the old paint had failed. Also, I hit a deer; this wiped out the front grill panel and the headlight box, as well as damaging the quarter panel and the door; I picked up replacement parts at the graveyard and had the body shop install them, which saved me a pile of money. I am not into changing oil myself; for the pittance that it costs, I'd rather have someone else do it. Mileage, 20 city, 24 highway.
