In EU by number of native speakers: German, French, English, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, Dutch, Czech, Hungarian, Greek...

But I think more people can comprehend better in English than German or French, since English is taught as 2nd language in most of schools.

Outside EU languages that are spoken widely are Russian, Ukraininan, Serbo-Croat (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrine), Turkish, Albanian...

Knowing Turkish can come handy in many places in Europe due to significant Turkish minorities.

portuguese, spanish, french, italian, english, german, dutch, and many many more.

I would say that french, italian, spanish and english are probably spoken the most just because france, spain and italy are large countries...(also, french is spoken in switzerland)... and english because most countries in europe learn english in school..
