Have you changed her food? Seeing as she isn't eating it all, maybe she doesn't like it? I changed my cat's cat food and he wasn't impressed, and his way of telling me was meowing. Once I changed it back, he was happy again.
Another time I changed the brand of kitty litter and he would walk around meowing, and started weeing in the middle of our bed! I decided to change the litter back....and hey presto! He went back to normal!!!
It is a cat's way of trying to communicate.
Good luck!

You don't mention anything about her being spayed...if she isn't, then most likely what you are dealing with is a cat in heat.
Does she "slink" down low, put her read end up in the air, perhaps have her tail held over to one side?
If this is the case then she is in heat and this meowing is a normal part of that estrus process.
The best thing to do is to take her to the vet and get her spayed soon! If she isn't spayed then you will be dealing with this behavior for the next 15+ years.
A spayed female has a reduced risk of mammary cancer, as well as possible abcesses from biting & fighting by the males who might get to her. {as well the males spraying the outside of your house & cars, etc. to mark their territory and leave a real stink behind!!}
If this is not the case maybe she is just talking to you! One of my cats is very vocal, especially if I have been gone for any amount of time, they get lonely even if they have other cats to talk to! lol
You also don't say if she is in a particular place when she cries, if she is at the kitty box then I would check to make sure she is passing urine, the easiest way is to empty the box & put only a little stripped up newspaper in it & you will be able to tell if she is going or not.
Another thing you can/should do if you think she may be ill is to take her temperature. If it is above 102.5 or below 101 then get her to the vet without delay!

Maybe she's just talking to you. :-) Our cat Vincent likes to talk to himself too. He fell off of the couch once and walked away mumbling meows to himself. All of my cats meow when we walk by the door to go outside (because they want out and try to tell us)
If she was meowing when you first got her I'd assume that she was being vocal in her new territory and getting established (like someone else said...stress can cause that)
If she's meowing again months later, perhaps she just wants attention or just likes meowing to you. If she's doing it at inappropriate times (such as when you are sleeping to wake you up) try not to acknowledge her because that's what she wants. Try playing with her a bit more during the day to help her sleep or stay more calm while you sleep. :-)
Best wishes

Some cats vocalize a lot becuase of stress. Has something changed in her environemnt recently? Any additions to the family (or subtractions)? New furniture? Rearranged or redocorated a favorite room? Is someone in the family stressed out? Are there strange animals outside that she can see?

Hey, there is a good chance it is just her personality. Tonkanese are usually a very vocal breed! Also, as someone else mentioned, she could be going in and out of heat. Spaying is the only cure for that:)
You may want to consider getting her a cat friend. With someone else to play with, she may not want your attention as much. Whenever one of my cats is not home, the other is constantly in my lap and looking for company. Just a thought:)
