I just got a new puppy a couple of weeks ago. She is a Shih Pom. We keep her in a pet taxi when we are not playing with her and at night. She has little bumps on her belly. It actually looks like pimples. I don't know what to put on them or what to do different for her. We put a towel in the pet taxi for her hoping that it would help. Any suggestions on what it could be??

I know what the nipples look like.. These bumps are all over the belly, not in a line. Thanks though =)

Just wipe her tummy when she comes in from outside. Keep it clean using non fragranced baby wipes, or a cloth dipped in Witch Hazel or Listerine,, diluted about 1 part Listerine to 4 parts water.
This is very common to puppies, and only causes trouble if it becomes irritated/infected..so just keep it clean.
My vet says it is usually caused by grass rubbing the tummy or fabric softeners, carpet cleaner, etc..and they normally out-grow it.

Are you sure you are not confusing these bumps with her nipples. Small dogs have very small ones that do look like little pimples. If they are ALL over her belly they may be irritates spots from a skin condition, fleas, or allergy. You should mention it to your vet the next time you take your puppy in for her shots.

Most likely this is puppy acne. Most times it will go away on it's own.. keep an eye on it

from http://www.pedigree.com/dogsandpuppies/adult+dogs/health+care/grooming/Is+it+true+that+dogs+can+get+acne.asp
It is indeed true that dogs can get acne, though it's more common with certain breeds. Young adult Boxers, English Bulldogs, Doberman Pinschers and Great Danes are among the breeds that can develop acne on their chin, lips, and muzzle. While the comedones themselves usually do not bother the dog, it can become painful and itchy if a secondary bacterial skin infection develops. There is no actual cure for canine acne, but it can be controlled. Mild cases need no treatment. If a dog gets repeated infections, regular cleaning with acne cleaning products or mild anti-seborrheic shampoos will be required. For secondary bacterial infections, your veterinarian will most likely recommend an antibiotic.

You have nothing to worry about. Most puppies get these pimple looking bumps. Just keep the puppy clean and they will eventually go away. It is normal.

I agree that it is most like puppy acne, but it's a good idea to bring your dog to the vet just in case. It could be flee bites or a rash.
