I was contemplating going on a family vacation to New York, but I am afraid that my children will be preyed upon by the city's many gay residents, or that liberals will harass us. Does anyone have any tips about whether or not this city is worth it for an upper-middle class conservative Christian family to visit? We do want to see the times square and the statue of liberty, but I don't know how much liberal scum we can handle.

Oh, also, please don't answer this question if you're a liberal or a gay, as your opinion doesn't matter to me. I am looking to hear from the conservative residents of the city.

I would suggest you go visit Branson, Mo. instead.

I'm not a New Yorker, but my wife's family is and most holidays I'm there with her family. I'm from Ohio, and while I don't share your views on Gays and Liberals, I was raised a Conservative Christian.

New Yorkers are doing their own thing, and you will be doing yours, I've had beggars and people trying to sell me junk come up to me on the streets, but I've never seen liberals, as you say, approach me, and I've only seen a few gay couples at restaurants, I would assume most true New Yorkers (liberals and gays) stay away from the touristy traps, so if you stick to the places all tourists like in the city, I have a feeling, you will all enjoy yourself and remember the city fondly.

Don;t get stuck on what might happen, enjoy that great city, it has a lot to offer and you and your family just might have a really fun time. It's the best city in the world to me.

Times Square is completely safe - but you may see some crazy characters, we always see a singing cowboy there who performs with basically, just his cowboy boots on, but that's New York.

Definitely do NOT come to NYC. The gays are everywhere, and many of them will be working in the hotels and restaurants you want to go to. They also work in stores and tourist attractions!

You will be constantly harassed, especially by liberals who will feel that you walk too slow, weigh too much, and can't control your kids. Sadly, nice middle class conservative Christian families are very easy to pick out and are often the brunt of jokes.

Take your family someplace else!

This is probably a troll post as the same question is also posted in San Francisco.

The tone of the post is designed to get people to answer in an angry fashion.

It was a pretty good troll folks, but the tone is too frothing at the mouth to be real!

Is this question a joke? Do you live in a cave? Someone must want to start some kind of flame war or something. No one can be this clueless.

If you have questions about your own sexuality, just ask them. Do not hide this way. You will be happier with life when you accept yourself for who you REALLY are.

I doubt that anyone will bother you in NYC, unless you go up to them and start chatting.
