I am writing a script, and need figure out what type of game the locals hunt so that I have an excuse for a couple hunters running into the main characters who are hiding in an Andean cave.

Thanks so much!

Alpaca llamas were eaten, but a majority was maintained for wool.

Aside from that, I only recall hearing about rodents and birds as quarry (and you are competing against cougars and birds of prey). It was much more substancial before the polylepis forests were whittled down by Incan over-development.

Pull up Peruvian Andes mountains lifestyle on a good search engine. I expect that they milk their llamas for milk but I doubt if they would kill them as they serve other useful purposes. There may be rabbits up there too, but I'm not sure what Peruvians would hunt for food way up there.

Good luck with your script.
