Believing anything other than what your inner being says is right, would be wrong. First, you have to believe in yourself; then look at your life. Are you satisfied? Do you want better things for yourself? Are you completely and totally happy?
There is no right or wrong answer to these questions; but it is up to 'only you' to decide.
That other guy was right...read, read and read more. Then when you're done............read some more. If you've never gone into a church, then pick one. If you aren't fond of religious ritual, then don't go to a Catholic church. Pick a non-denominational bible teaching church. Pick up a Bible and read the New Testament and see how it feels to you.
YOU are the only person who can decide what to believe. You don't have to believe ANYONE in here. If you don't want to go to a church, then look for ministries on-line. Kenneth Copeland ministries, Jerry Saville, Creflo Dollar...they're all good non-demoninational teachers. But I'll tell you love of God only boils down to one major word...and that's LOVE. Loving and caring for each other...living a good, helpful and clean existance without dirtying our lives. Seeing our bodies as being the temple that he created and keeping it clean. He isn't asking much. But you have to make that choice. We can't make it for you. If God speaks to you...you'll know. If there is acceptance, it MUST be of YOUR own free will. There isn't a person out there that has a right to tell you which way to go. That's why God gave you your freedom to choose.

Not sure if this is what you meant, but here goes. When someone is looking right at you, you can know what they are saying to be true. Watch their eyes. If the eyes go up they are trying to remember the answer. If the eyes go down, whatever they say is not the truth. If the eyes go to their left they are telling the truth, and if the eyes go to their right they are hiding something, so not as truthful as they want you to know. good luck
