I was thinking of using Taxcut this year to do my taxes. I've read a bunch of reviews, but one that I saw mentioned something about an additional $24.95 (and they said "required" with efiling) to have direct deposit. Does anyone know about this? Is this an additional $24.95 on top of the $15.95 efile charge? and is that PER RETURN? (so about $80 to efile state and fed with direct deposit?)

I have efiled for several years and am aware of the fee to do that, but I don't recall ever having to pay an EXTRA FEE for direct deposit. What's up with that?

The $24.95 fee kicks in if you wish to have the e-file fee of $15.95 deducted from the refund instead of paying it separately while e-filing. Don't ask me why one would actually pay $24.95 extra. This can't be for kicks.

I used TaxCut, paid e-file fee of $15.95 using credit card and there was no extra fee of any kind.

Hope this helps.

Nowadays the word "fee" is being used to justify charging everybody for something that they either don't have anything to show for or just to rip us off.Wells Fargo Bank is in my opinion the father of all fees. They literally have fees for everything, convenience fees, participation fees, check cashing fees etc. There's a fee to use your debit card, there's a program fee, late fee, convenience fee, sign up fee, processing fee, termination fee, fees on top of fees,a fee for talking to a live person.EVERYBODY is using the word fee it seems to get someting for nothing their even inventing new words to go along with fee so they can justify charging us for something that doesn't cost them a thing.Fee has become a business in itself a very protifitable one at that.So it they are charging a fee for something at H&R Block that leaves you wondering why???It's probably just another way to take your money and justify it with "It's a fee".
