I've had that happen to me, it took a day or two to get my hearing back to normal, the firecracker blew up in my hand, Blowing an insanely painful blood blister about 1" long on my thumb as well, from the blast, ouch, now I know NOT to play with firecrackers, it only took 40 years to find this out. !

you probably blew out your eardrum. the bones in your ear are very sensative and must be alligned perfectly for your hearing to work correctly. the muffling should fix itself over time while it heals. careful not to dive too deep in water or do anything to worsen it. i wonder how your test came out OK if you notice definate muffling..?
