Will you automatically give it a "thumbs down"? Even if it is a religious question? I notice that many of the actual religious answers in the Religion forum are given a "thumbs down", while ironically, the non-religious answers generally are not, regardless of answer clarity and quality. ?????

Are the majority of people here actually people who do not follow a religion?

I meant to say a religion that believes in a God/God.

Hi Jamie...Please stay on topic. My question is not asking if God exists or not.

Hi Brucelee...No need for attacking here. "Brainwashing" can be applied to people who are also completely convinced 100% there is no God as well. This is not the question for debating this. There are ways to logically explain your beliefs without using negative and/or non-correlating terms.

Peace.

I don't thumbs down an answer unless one of the following is true:

a.) Irrelevant to the question as asked in the title and details
b.) Violates the AUP/RoC
c.) Aggressive or hateful

The reality is that a lot of people will give a thumbs down to an answer that does not agree with what they think. Maybe sad, but true! I won't give a thumbs down just because they mention God, it is a religious section after all and that's par for the course. I will thumbs down answers that don't really address the question and just preach about Jesus/God or if the answerer asserts his/her beliefs as being the only correct way (arrogantly negating everybody else's beliefs, calling them B.S.). I have however chosen as a best answer on one of my questions a religious person's answer even though I didn't agree with it, because he answered the question asked, with sufficient explanation and it was coherent.

One thing I wanted to mention, is that you can read any question, by atheist or theist, and when you read the answers you can automatically identify who is giving the thumbs up and thumbs down. It happens to atheists as well as theists. As I already mentioned, people have a tendency to rate well those answers that they agree with and rate low those answers that don't mesh with their views.

No, I would only give a question the thumbs down if it was deliberately hostile to a particular group. I enjoy reading peoples viewpoints but unfortunately some viewpoints are so blatantly vicous that they are not worth reading. In most cases people are genuine in there questions and will accept another viewpoint different from there own.

There is religion and there is organized religion. The first one is spiritual and should not be mocked. The latter is a money making business for the sky pilots but even so they should not be automatically belittled as many people find solace in it. My wife is religious and I am not. But we have been married for 45 years. Live and let live.

Of course not. Why, do you automatically thumbs-down everyone you disagree with? I only thumb them down if they are repeating some lie, being abusive, or not attempting to answer the question but preach instead.

However, I do thumb-down posts about god in the science section. Just on principle.

Nope. That would be freaking odd. Do you thumbs' down non-religious posts in say, the holidays section, or science?

A lot of explicitly religious ones get thumbs down for saying everyone who does not follow their weird ideas is a dumbass.
(In the case of wierd ideas about god, that is)

I will differ with whoever I so choose, but I don't thumb answers. That's how they feel or believe. I don't believe in God but I respect that some
people do. So, I don't get worried by the word "God" anywhere!

I don't give a "thumbs-down" to a post unless it doesn't answer the question or is unnecessarily belligerent.

No, the majority appear to be frustrated people who take it out on others.
