Go to him and have a face-to-face conversation about just how serious you are in relation to your being his brother-in-law. Tell him how you feel about his sister, and that you would like to have his support and approval. If he doesn't respond in a positive way, tell him that your love for his sister is the most important thing to you, even to gain his approval. I think he will respect you more if you have a one-on-one conversation with him, and he should be convinced of the love you have for his sister. Also tell him you have a slight understanding of his reluctance to let go of his sister because of her welfare, and that you and she are in love and both of your happiness is your main priority.

Invite him over for a cup of coffee, or something along that line. When the two of you get together, and start conversing, let him know that you need to discuss an important matter with him. Tell him that you are in love with your wife, and that you are committed to the marriage with her. That you understand as her brother, that he wants to be protective of her, and wants the best for her. However, as her husband, you want the same for her. Ask him why he is so against you being her husband? And, please,,, listen to him. That will help you know what his true concerns are. Better to answer the real reason(s) for his concerns, then too guess what they are. I wish you the best. Take care.

First of all why are you worried about what anyone else thinks but your fiance. You are marrying her, not him. If he is giving you a hard time though find out what he likes ( golf ) or take him down the pub, have a few drinks and star chatting about anything and everything. I guess he's just looking out for his sister. Then put him to rest and let him know that you love his sister and that you aren't going to do anything to hurt her. Just be honest with him about your feelings and i'm sure all will be fine. Good luck.

ask him what his problem is with you? Have you done something to offend him or the family? Ask your wife if she has any suggestions to help with her brother.

It would help if you mentioned what kinda issues he has with you and whether he does indeed have reason to worry. Otherwise just be yourself, he'll come around. Please read this article:

punch him in the eye, then kick him in the gut. when he is hunched over uppercut him, then kick him downstairs. if its a diplomatic approach you want to take I hope you make more money than him, just show him your check. best of luck to you.
