If you're making a joke, you need to make it PAINFULLY clear that you're making a joke. Part of the blacklash about Y! Answers is that you can't tell how someone is saying what they're saying, so it's all too easy to lose your playful/joking inflection. At the end of any joke you make, it's probably not a bad idea to add a disclaimer like
THIS WAS ONLY A JOKE!!! NO OFFENSE MEANT!!! <:)
or something like that.
Then there are users in here who SEEK to insult, and there's nothing you can do about them, unfortunately. :S
EDIT: Okay, THAT was funny, Adia Arek. lol And notice how HE made it clear he was telling a joke instead of being a d1ck. :)

Truthfully, if a person's life is sad and unhappy, they don't live as long as they could. God wants everyone to live a very long and happy life. When we are happy we do live longer. Just like the old saying that laughter is the best medicine. I've always agreed with that. (but I can answer this way..cause I didn't see your other questions)
Seeing as how everything is written in here, it's difficult to tell if someone is just joking around...or if they're seriously poking fun of people who are Christians.
Unfortunately, right now, you're probably are going to get more critical answers because of what that atheist group is trying to do the Presidents 'faith based' thing going on.
The Christian communities are the largest organized donors of time, money, food, clothing and so forth to the underprivileged in the U.S. and overseas of any other organizations out there. They got together with government for some loans to continue their work. It's not like the churchs will not pay them back; and they wanted to try and get some grants. Lets face it. All churchs are maintained by donations from their congregations, but many contributors are not people of means. Catholic overseas aid is one, who takes care of children in all the poorest countries on the map. These people live in poverty and give their lives to save these children and try to feed the ones who are dying. It has always been by private donation from people...people who care but can only give so much. So, unless the atheist leaders can come up with a way to stretch forth a hand by either going there to help with time, money...food...of course you'll find Christian people who are going to take every stab made in here to heart.
Since this section is for religion and spirituality, we also feel offended that non-believers, atheist to be precise, come in here trying to talk down God, whom we reverence. Atheist also complain we are a part of the problem. Well, if they would stop coming in here, they wouldn't be offended. If they choose not to believe, then just leave us alone and let us get on with our conversations. Christians are Christians and our beliefs will not change. Non-believers may try with our kids, but most will be in for a huge surprise when they find they cannot change me as an adult. My faith is solid and strong and I've had just way too many miracles, big and small happen. And they're not just coincidence; they are more than big and real.
So, I guess that is one sense of people who are here. Christians want to be Christians...and talk God, Jesus, scripture, angels, miracles. We don't come to bother anyone else...and right now with atheist sturring up touble with the Federal Court...it's ticking many of us off. Just...let it be and let things cool down for a bit...okay?

Newsflash: Most people don't exactly consider their religion to be something to be made fun of. The same way that people who believe in Civil Rights don't like it when black people are discredited. Try the same ridicule on any other forum, and you will not get the same tolerant response you see here from most.
You must realize you will get a critical answer, because you are asking a question that requires analysis. In this case, you are asking why believers respond critically when they are being attacked (Forgive me if I am not understanding the question).
Most of us (myself included) CAN take and dish out a joke. However, this is a RELIGION forum, and not Chapelle's Show.

I often wonder the same thing myself. It seems that many (of course, not ALL) people who are fervently religious are also somewhat self-righteous. It seems (again, just my own view) that the type of person who could "willingly suspend disbelief" and become zealously religious, is also the type of person who's more likely to subscribe to the point of view that only THEY are right, and if you don't agree with them, then you must be wrong. :(
Again, I'm not trying to stereotype ALL ultra-religious folks, but as the niece of a born-again Christian, I have unfortunately seen this first-hand. (I am spiritual but not religious. I also happen to believe that everyone finds their own path to the divine, and NO one path is better than the others.) :)

By golly, you are right for a sinner!God did not want us to be afraid of anything!& He wants us to laugh & be happy where appropriate.

in God's image then God has a sense of humor too!

i just answered another similar question. we all disagree on some things. the intensity is related to the perceived consequences of error. they're either mad because they think you're going to hell or they think you might tempt them into questioning their beliefs (and therefore usually going to hell)

I have an idea of how some live in their homes. I doubt whether they even have any books in their homes other than the bible. They live a boring life!

Okay okay here's a joke.
A priest was having a sermon talking about the second coming of Jesus,
suddenly the sky was open and there he was, Jesus himself decending, it was the second coming.
Then the priest said:
"Speak of the Devil, he's here!"
*drum snare*
