I saw my ex-gf that I loved for 3 years out on friday night. She broke up for me and got with another guy 1 night later. I would like to talk to her and see how she is, but what she did really hurt me. I did everything for her, but she never loved me back. I think she held onto me until the right guy came around into her life. Scary how fast someone can move on. What do I do to get over this feeling, I know she moved on and so should I, but it is difficult, esp when I cant seem to find another decent girl like her anywhere! I know there are alot of good girls out there, but after she set a high standard, I cant help but not looking for the same high standard....Degree, good looks, smart...you know, I know you might say "look, where did that get you, only a broken heart" but I cant help it! I just want a woman to love me for me...only!!!

I was in a very similar situation, but she started dating my best friend after 3.5 years. For me, I ignore her and avoid her at all costs. If it still hurts then why put yourself in the situation to talk with her, it will just make you think about her more (at least thats my experience). I don;t think its childish, in the game of love you have to look out for #1, because no one else is going to.
Keep looking, if you treat girls as well as you say you do, you just need to find one that will appreciate it. Its tough, but you will find someone that will be much better than your ex that will make you forget about her completely.

lily is right. and your standards can be lowered if you allow it to... you want a woman to love you? don't be so high standard yourself and find someone who may not be good looking, may not be very smart, or may not have a degree but still respects you as a person and treats you well... :) go out and make friends and yes, if a girl never loves you back, THAT is a sign she's just biding time and using you.

And why would you like another girl like her? She used you. First you have to admit you are holding on to someone that only existed in your head. She was just waiting for someone better to come along. Why are you holding onto so little? You deserve more. Go out there and stop comparing all the woman to this user.

She broke your heart and you don't want her anywhere near it anymore.
