Pro chefs usually just rub their hands on some stainless steel or squeeze a bit of lemon juice on them but if you have a particularly nasty onion odour that just won't quit, go to the washroom and rub some toothpaste on them and rinse with hot water. That'll cure any kind of pungent fragrance.

One method will ALWAYS work well. Put some salt in your hands, add a little soap, and wet your hands a little bit. Now after they have been good and goopy and you have been washing your hands for about a half a min to a full min wash off that goop. Your hands will feel great and it will have removed any smell and dead skin on your hands. Now run your hands along anything stainless steel, probably the inside of the sink will work best. And voila, all gone.

Two easy solutions. One is to keep a lemon half in the refrigerator and slice it and use the slice to wipe all over your hands (put the rest of the lemon back in the frig in a plastic bag). The other solution is to wipe your hands really well with stainless steel. You can use a spoon or buy a piece of stainless steel that is just for this purpose.

Real lemon juice, real stainless steel (you could rub a spoon over your hands, as long as it's stainless steel), or toothpaste. I have found that the stainless steel works best for me personally.

if your kitchen or laundry sink is made from stainless steel just rub your hands over the sink, there is something in the chemicals that gets rid of onion and garlic smell.
