I agree with Lexi M--beware of puppy mills! Animals that are sold through newspaper ads, websites, and pet stores often come from puppy mills. The Humane Society has more information about how to buy a puppy responsibly on their Stop Puppy Mills website (1--see below).

However, instead of buying a Papillon, I suggest rescuing one. I did an internet search and found two rescue organizations in the Boston area: Animal Rescue League of Boston (2) and Boston Dog Rescue (3). I also found a rescue group specifically for Papillons (4), though I think they're located in Pennsylvania. Several Papillons were listed on Petfinder, a pet adoption portal (5). I don't know if Winchendon, MA, is near you, but Ahimsa Haven has a Chihuahua/Papillon mix.

The Humane Society estimates that 6-8 million cats and dogs enter shelters each year. About half of them are adopted; the rest are euthanized (6). By rescuing a dog instead of buying one, you are literally saving a life. So please consider rescue, and be sure to spay and neuter. Thanks!
