My friend, Austin, went out with this girl named Makayla. Eventually they grew apart, but Austin still likes her (first girlfriend is hard to let go of, right?). A few years later, Makayla starts going out with Michael, who then broke up with her to go out with Ashleigh, who was Makayla's friend. Anyway, after Michael dumps her, Austin asks her out again, and she says no. And then, a few days later, Ashleigh breaks up with Michael to stay friends with Makayla. (I guess Michael deserved it). Anyway, he says he's over Makayla, but I don't believe him. And he acts really depressed sometimes. I can tell it's because of her. How can I comfort him?

Try the best you can to get him out, you're his friend so you know best what makes him tick. But it sounds to me like he is making YOU depressed more than anything. Realise that you can only do so much and let him heal on his own, in his own time. Best advice I can give is to let HIM know that HE can only do so much, and that it is beyond his control (control being what YOU physically have power over, ie. your own actions, thoughts, and emotions) Tell him not to stress it, that it will take time, but that he should use it to find what he likes and dislikes in other girls and set better boundaries so he doesn't get as hurt next time, as boundaries will help you mature as a person.

Tell him that she'll probably get an std and end up having 15 kids out of wedlock having to raise them all by becoming a stripper/prostitute. =D Hope he feels better
