I'm amazed, you trained a cat to sit. The most I was ever able to train a cat to do was to stand up when I brough out the cat food, and that took a load of work. You really have an amazing way with cats. Well, she is a cat, and who knows what is in her mind. Remember the size of a cat's brain is about the size of a lima bean, so can't really hold much of a processor. So, does she know she is being filmed, who knows!!!! for some reason the video camera must just scare her or say something to her, and she isn't going to let you get her photo. You have to sneak up on her, or give her a treat of some kind to keep her busy so you can get that photo.
There just is no rhyme or reason to why a cat does anything, they are cats.

Hi Slw, That is really cool... Almost all cats do not sit when you tell them. Your cat is great and seems to be smarter that other cats. Your cat does know something is up with your video camera. I guess she doesn't want people to know she is very smart and can do things most cats cannot do. LOL You have a great cat. Take care of her,and she will love you forever.
A Friend.

I have many cats. none do sit on command tricks but they will do what tricks they do best to get a special treat. Cats can be taught to go potty in toilets, flush the handle, push the button on electric can openers, turn door handles (not knobs), and much more. It is not surprising that your cat can learn things too. If you have a close relationship with your pet and are consistent enough, I believe you can teach a cat a whole lot of stuff to do upon command.

Cats are very sensitive to changes in your voice. Like how do they know to hide when you call them before going to the vet, and you don't even have the kennel out.
She may be sensing a slight change in your voice, and just standing by to see what happens.
I used to have a cat that played fetch, for hours. And two of my four cats answer to their names when called. So yes they can be trained, but they are testier than dogs.

Not all cats sit on command, but you can teach most cats how to with patients. And I think it is typical for a cat to only sit when it wants to. We have a cat where I work named Buddha who will only sit if he sees that you have food. Otherwise he just ignores you. And he knows how to sit pretty for food too.

Look cats have a mind of their own. You cant train a cat like a dog. Mine just let me know when she wants fed...when she wants rubbing. That is all. You have to listen to a cat a be around one to see the signs. Mine for a while made me listen to when she started using my guest bathroom sink to do her thing in. Took a while but I got her to using her litter box again. Just little things .. pay attention to her. They are just telling you what you already know. They arent the dumb one's .. we are matter of fact.

I taught one in each of my cats to sit down down utilising a way akin to what Tia revealed. you need to do a similar with canine, easily. merely lead the nostril up and decrease back a touch, no longer too intense contained in the air, and sitting is fantastically a lot automatic. upload a command suggested mutually, practice slightly, and there you bypass. Mine merely sits for nutrition, yet I not in any respect tried dissociating nutrition from sitting because it become extra of a whim to coach her than something i wanted her to do. i do not imagine forcing them to sit down down how you may a canine (push the rear to the floor) would artwork properly for most cats. that has a tendency to be a community they extremely like petted and it in a great number of cases is going the different of the wanted route even as touched.

Most cats won't sit on command but mine will if i give him a little peanut butter, I don't know why. :P
I think it's not so much that cats don't have the capacity to be trained as much as most people don't train cats.

i have never had a cat that did anything on command. i try to make myself feel better about this by telling them to lay down and don't move when they're already doing it. but the fake pride only lasts so long.
