I am just curious.. but it seems many of the northern European entertainers use English when performing on stage. Why?

I guess it would be hard to Rap in German?

I don't know, tell me!

Songs made for English sound best in English.
I don't know if I'm right , but any song translated to a second language sound not me nice. I've heard songs of the Beatles sung in french and they sound in bad taste.
Charles Aznavour's La Boheme sounds best in French
Dschingis Kahn's Moskau does it in German.
In short, any song always has to be performed in its original version

English for popular music and most other forms. Italian if you want to sing opera (but I read the question to indicate that you aren't planning to go that way).
