Juan Montoya is the most talented driver in NASCAR. With that said I do not think NASCAR fans are aware that outside of the United States Juan Montoya is a hero to many people. He is a hero in south America, central America, and a lot of Europe. You have to understand he has nothing to prove in NASCAR. He has proven everything he needs to prove. He has nothing to prove to NASCAR fans at all. He is talked about a lot because NASCAR has decided on going on this campaign to make NASCAR a worldly event. SO you are blaming the wrong person if you have a problem with Juan Montoya cause the media wants to increase its audience.
With that said Juan Montoya performance yesterday is just a glimpse of how talented of a driver he is. It also shows how aggressive of a driver he is. He can be wreckless on the track but usually his recklessness has always benefited him.
Look at it this way, winning in any form in a nascar event is a great accomplishment. But winning like he did yesterday from as far back as he was, was a little bit brilliant, a little bit wild, and a little bit aggressive amazing. He deserves the hype for all he has giving to racing in general.

Just like you said, you have to respect his accomplishments in open wheel racing, but in stock car racing, he's a rookie. This will die down once Juan keeps posting top 25 finishes. When he gets better then the media can hype him again. But right now the media is adoring a guy who spins out his own teammate to win a Busch race.

Though he has had some fair runs, even the Busch win, he still has to prove himself to the drivers at the CUP level. He may have been a hotshot open wheel driver and an accomplished road racer, but this is a different type racing with heavier cars and more people on the tracks.
So yes as a rookie he is overrated.

JPM is large for NASCAR and that i recognize the very undeniable truth that he's presented in as a rookie and would not take crap from all individuals, fantastically Stewart. Tony does the precise issues he bitches about different drivers doing. Juan Pablo Montoya isn't puffed up, he's residing as a lot because the hype. do no longer ignore that that is the first time he has seen those tracks, it truly is unlike he worked his way up from the Busch sequence. he's struggling with for an same genuine sources that each and each one the drivers are entitled to and in case you won't be able to take the nice and cozy temperature you larger positive get out of his way. As for you being ill of listening to about him, it truly is too undesirable. he's doing more suitable positive than most of the drivers you listen way more suitable about jointly with the likes of Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick or maybe Jr.

I say it's too early to judge him as a NASCAR driver as he is a rookie in both the Busch and Nextel Cup Series despite his background in the top open wheel circuits (CART/IRL & Formula One). Look at what Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson drove before they became Nextel Cup Champions. Tony, of course, still drives sprint cars from time to time, and Jimmie Johnson was an off-road racer; something Robbie Gordon still does sometimes. Give Montoya some time to get used to driving a stock car. He may've bullied his way to the win in Mexico today, bumping his teammate [Scott Pruett] out, but he's learning, and he could be a prominent driver in NASCAR.

I don't think He is overrated, He is a talented driver. I think the F1 fans expectations are too high. He will no more come in and, win the championship, His first year than, Jeff Gordon or, Tony Stewart would cross over to NHRA and, take out John Force, in their first year. getting used to a new series with, different cars will take time but, I do think that in time, He will be an excellent addition to the cup series.

No... Over-advertised YES.
As far as over-rated.. That's crazy! Hes proven that he's one of the worlds greatest talents. He's won in every series that he raced in, and won those series BIGGEST EVENTS (ex: Daytona 500 = Superbowl of NASCAR). When he ran in the IRL, He won the INDY 500 in his first trip EVER to that track! That's freaking incredible!

Yes because he was great in F-1 they are tying to make him sound like the next big thing. Sadly for his immigrant ***, he can buy a good finish. He is quite frankly pathetic.
