Hello. So you're looking for sites to download freeware programs, well here's a few for you. Be sure to see that even though some are free, there are others where you are getting a trial version until you buy it. I usually trust these:
1. www.downloads.com
2. www.nonags.com (just click on area for freebies
nearest your area).
3. www.snapfiles.com (same as www.webattack.com)
4. www.tucows.com
5. www.majorgeeks.com
Here's five to get you started. Be sure to make sure their free, match your OS, and run a check on them with your antivirus/antispyware, and look at the screenshots to get an idea what the interface is like. Good luck.

Do a dual boot with UBUNTU or XUBUNTU. Once you have one of these free, reliable and up to date operating systems installed, you gain access to thousands of free programs.
Back up your data before making any changes to your computer.
