The first church was called "the way" later it became know as Christianity. It was one Church until 1054 when the church at Rome broke away from it. Roman Catholics will tell you that the Roman Catholic church as the first, it was the second. The one that was left after the split is now call the Eastern Orthodox Church. They have never changed what the early church practiced or believed. The Anglican came next with the Methodist coming from that and the other Protestant churches came at various times after the Reformation.

The Roman Catholic Church claims that it originated with Peter, most protestants think that is in error. The Actual facts get a bit confusing, but best research deem that the Church of Antioch was probably the first viable and evangelizing organization of Christians, and that is where the name 'Christian' came into being. :-0

The oldest formal church currently in existence is the Roman Catholic Church; however, the absolute first Christian church (no longer in existence) was lead by Jesus Christ.
Among Jesus and his followers, they were known as "the Nazarenes" but among non-believing Roman forces, they were known as "The Cult of the Nazarenes."
Don't take my word/interpretation for it though! Check it out in the Bible! :)
