He didn't, the idea of a redeemer god or demi-god (son of a god and a woman) has been present in different cultures for centuries.

There was no Jesus, just as there was no real Prometheus, Osiris or any of the other copycat redeemer gods.

God allowed His son to die on the cross as a blood sacrifice for our sins. However....there is a condition to be forgiven. We must understand we have sinned, repent, and believe in Jesus as our savior.

In the Old Testament times, the people had to make sacrifices, of animals, over and over again for a sin covering. But Jesus was the final and last sacrifice, there will be no others. Only He, being God made flesh, is able to wash us clean.

He didn't! God protected Jesus (pbuh), as such a noble prophet shouldn't die in such way. Somebody else was crucified instead.

The notion that Jesus (peace be upon him) died to save mankind from going to the hell-fire makes no sense whatsoever!

Doesn't it make more sense that we will each be judged according to our deeds? Each one of us has angels recording everything that we're doing in this life. After we die, we will each be judged accordingly, and that will determine where we will go (heaven or hell).

I think the world would be a much safer place if everybody cared about how God was going to judge them, rather than thinking that they can pretty much do anything and get away with it!

John 15:3 - Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Jesus was the final sacrifice for sins. His blood was good enough to pay for all the sins of all people. They sacrificed animals before to pay for sins of the people. Jesus paid the penalty that sin gives which is death. So one dies because of their sins. So He gives His life for all so that we may have a chance to go to heaven if we want to. Isnt that great?!

We all inherited sin from Adam (the first perfect man) which condemned us to death. Jesus became the second perfect man and gave us a choice to claim him as our ancestor instead of Adam so we would not die as a result of our inheritance of sin from Adam.

Jesus Christ the Son of God died on the cross to cleanse us of our sins so that when we die we do not have to burn in hell, but rather can live eternally in heaven with him and his father. He died so that we would not have to. I hope that this helps you to better understand.

He took OUR place and received the full judgment as payment for ALL of our sins and when you believe on Him as your Savior, it
is IMPUTED to you for RIGHTEOUSNESS.

He took our SIN and made Himself 'obedient" unto death and in turn we RECEIVE His RIGHTEOUSNESS.

He shed His precious blood and our salvation is BASED on that blood.
It's not some empty decision that God just decided on or some empty prayer for forgiveness. It is BASED on the BLOOD and without it, all the prayers in the universe wouldn't bring salvation to ANYBODY.
Forgive me for using this analogy, but you write CHECKS based on actual money that you have in your account -- and not on some empty wish that you had a million dollars in the bank.....It has to be REAL money or your checks are totally worthless and
they will BOUNCE - because of INSUFFICIENT FUNDS....
Well, the BLOOD of JESUS is there for the WHOLE WORLD to receive eternal salvation if they choose to do so, but each person has to hear and believe and TRUST in Jesus - and that prayer for salvation is based on THE BLOOD OF JESUS and not on ANYTHING that you can do to add to what He did for you.

If you have not received Jesus as your Savior and you would like to do so -- Please call this number and there will be someone there who will be SO VERY HAPPY to answer your questions and pray with you......

WITHOUT THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD, THERE IS NO REMISSION OF SIN. - HEBREWS 9;22

IT IS THE BLOOD THAT MAKES ATONEMENT FOR THE SOUL.

There are many good books to answer your question. The Bible and the Book of Mormon would be best as they support each other, along with James Talmage's "Jesus the Christ" and W. Cleon Skousen's "A Personal Search for the Meaning of the Atonement." The Infinite Atonement was prepared for by Jesus Christ even before the history of the world. From a Mormon point of view (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), all of us existed as spirit children of God in a place called the pre-mortal life. I believe that your spirit looks just like you, only it is made of more refined material than your physical body, and it can never die. It can also be referred to as your "intelligence." I believe that God the Father has a glorified and perfect body of flesh and bone in addition to having a perfect Spirit. A spirit and a body combined together are what constitutes a living soul. As spirit children of God, we wanted to learn more about how to be like our Heavenly Parents. So God and His Firstborn Son, Jesus Christ, our Elder Brother, designed a Plan of Happiness which has always existed to help us learn more. This included creating the physical earth where we now live and where we would receive physical bodies when we were born. Part of the plan to grow spiritually meant living by faith, which meant we were going to forget the pre-mortal life where we used to live. Because we would be living by faith, we would also be open to committing errors or "sin" - that is, disobeying the will of God - sometimes it would be through ignorance, sometimes it would be because we would give in to physical appetites, and sometimes it would be because of temptation of other kinds. God the Father knew we would all be subject to physical death as well, as our bodies are mortal instead of being immortal. God - who is perfect in truth and righteousness - cannot permit the presence of sin in His Kingdom. So there had to be a way to prepare our spirits to come back to the presence of God. Jesus Christ volunteered to bring about the Atonement - to pay the spiritual price of our sins and weaknesses, and which would also include giving up his earthly life so that He could pass through the process of the Resurrection (combining the spirit with a perfect, immortal, physical body) first. Because Jesus Christ took on Himself the spiritual imbalance (think of it like a huge spiritual debt) caused by all of our sins and weaknesses, He became our Advocate (something like a lawyer, but completely honorable and perfect) with the Father. If we repent and call on Jesus Christ's name to use the power of the Atonement, He can help us change and be cleansed spiritually in preparation to return to our Heavenly Father. In addition, every living thing in the Universe will recognize Jesus Christ's authority in bringing back those who call on His Atonement, because every living thing in the Universe knows Jesus Christ's power, love, and the depth of the suffering He went through in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. Jesus Christ was crucified as part of prophecy (see for example, Psalm 69:21 in the Bible (re: Jesus was given gall or vinegar to drink while on the cross) or 1 Nephi 19:8-18, 23 in the Book of Mormon). He had to go through a physically tortuous process wherein His life could be offered up as a sacrifice, and so that He could pass through the Resurrection process. Having an immortal Father (God) and a mortal mother (Mary), this meant that Jesus was able to give up His life and then take it up again through the power of the Holy Priesthood, or the authority of God. The Atonement is the single most important event in the history of the world. Because of Jesus Christ, we can all return to the presence of Heavenly Father if we repent. Also, because of Jesus Christ, every person who has ever lived on the earth will be resurrected as a free gift - whether or not people know who He is. That means we will receive our physical bodies again, but this time they will not be subject to disease or death. The Atonement of Jesus Christ was so powerful that it also automatically covers all little children who are under the age of 8 or the age of accountability if they die before being baptized or if they die without learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (see Moroni 8:8-20 in the Book of Mormon). However, I believe that everyone will eventually have the chance to learn about Jesus Christ at some time before the entire Resurrection takes place. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.
