the quickest way is to give a right click on the My Computer icon in the desktop (the one that looks like a computer...) and click on the label "Properties, then read the thing and you'll read "x" Megabytes or Gygabites of RAM.

ctrl-alt-delete task-manager performance
Takes about three seconds to get there and one of the items listed is the amount of physical memory, that's how much RAM you have and you can also see how much is in use.
