It was my 6yr olds bday party. We opened gifts after guests left. There were 2 families that we hadn't marked off as giving a gift yet. One of them previously told me "we gave you the gift in the winnie the pooh bag but theres no card". But it was in a loud space so I wasn't sure what they said. There was 1 gift without a card but it was not in a pooh bag. What do I say in the thank you card to the 2 families?

we had the same problem at our wedding, just be very general and thank them for attending and making your sons day special

Yeah, I send a generic FANCY "Thank you" (prewritten) and say, the best gift of all was YOU being here. We treasure the gifts you shared with us and appreciate the generosity.

I never list the gifts.... Oh I know its not PC. but I'm not great at remembering those things yet every one gets thank you cards and no one knows the wiser!

Best wishes.

Just keep it short & simple and direct to the point.

"Thanks for coming to our party. You have made my son's birthday really special. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated."

thoughtfulness - in vague reference to them bringing a gift

Note to Gift-Givers: Sure would be nice if at the back of your card, you'd write your address and a description of your gift (e.g., blue towel set). You'd be doing your host a big, big favor coz it's a lot easier for him/her to send those TY notes. This is not my original idea. I read about it in one of those "Dear Abby" columns.

THANK them 4 coming to the party. ANd their kindiness to the family will long be remembered. THAT should cover them. IF THEY DID OR DIDNT GIVE A GIFT.
