It would all depend on where you are stationed and what your mos was.
While marines, as all military members are allowed to take college class's while serving,
You have to remember, Marines train and deploy alot.
The service will not excuse you from training or deployments because you are taking college class's.
Even in the Air Force, you would have a hard time taking more than 6 semester hours at a time ( two class's ).
And since most military bases aren't conviently located by Universities, you will have to take class's on base offered by University extension services.
What that means is.........
A university ( aka Univ of Maryland, etc ) will have a couple of professors on base teaching a couple of class's. So class selection is limited, you might not always be able to take a class you need.
It is possible to earn your college degree while serving, many people do, but it is not easy and it will take longer than normal.
You have to remember, duty comes first !!!!!!!!!!!

I have friends that are marines in school with me, why go to a community college? you will go to school wherever you are stationed unless you take online classes, but my husband is going to school as a army soldier, and in my graduate school classes I have at least 5 marines, who have been deployed during class and such. There are schools that are more pro military and have military classes that are after your work day. You get T.A. by being in the military and so I would suggest that you do school while stationed somewhere. I know from personal experience that if you get stationed at MCBH in Hawaii that it is very easy to be in the military and take classes, they have schools on base and online classes and terms are shorter and they understand deployments and if you are deployed your class is not canceled it is just paused until you get back.

The Marines told my 17 year old nephew he could join the Marines and then go to college. After his 13 weeks of basic the Marines told him to go FXXX himself and now he's off to Iraq. The reason? The needs of the United States Marines comes first". "YOU" as a person have no rights.

When I was active duty Air Force, I found it difficult to take classes and get up for work the next day. It can be done, and the military pays almost all your tuition for you, but you have to have an understanding supervisor who will work with you and let you leave base a few minutes early to get to your class on time. But they always remind you that the mission comes first!

yes.it is possible but very time consuming and diffucult b/c for every class hour you are supposed to study 2-3 hours a day. so the time would be the biggest problem. but make sure your credits from the comm. college transfer to the univ. college ..
