We are in the process of potty training my 2 year old, and he keeps getting this rash on his but cheeks. It's almost as if it's chapped. Anyone know what could be causing it or what to use on it?

Could be a reaction to something he is eating or drinking.
Could be eczema.

My daughter started getting more rashy when she began potty training also... Mainly because she wasn't getting her rear powdered like she did when she was getting her diaper changed (she gets rashes rather easily, ever since she was a newborn), so I started keeping a small bottle of baby powder in the bathroom that I would sprinkle on her after wiping. It completely cleared it up just by keeping her skin dry. (They make baby powder with cornstarch in it, very gentle on the skin) Also, if you're using pull-ups, they have tendencies to cause skin irritation where they rub on the child's hips and legs. Try not using those for a while. Good luck!

I'm not quite sure what it is exactly, but i know that rashes can't heal well when they are wet..My son had the same problem so i suggest that you either put cornstarch on him instead of baby powder because baby powder can make it worse, or just let him run around without a diaper for like an hour here and there over the course of the day..just let him wear underwear..good luck

I'm not exactly sure what the rash is but I had this bizarre rash on my legs for a while. I used Eucerin Aquaphor and it cleared up literally within a few hours. I'm almost positive that stuff could cure cancer its so good ;) Good luck!

I had an English Bulldog. BabyGirl replaced into the suitable. Born deaf, i replaced into forced to study and show her sign language. you're saying you tried all forms of remedies on her, yet never say you had her to a Vet. that's substantial. The Vet could ought to do a dermis attempt to make sure the source of the rash. My BabyGirl had a rash on her abdomen for a pair of years. i presumed it replaced into time-honored. as quickly as I took her for her annual Vet bypass to, my vets daughter replaced into working there, and he or she clinically determined the rash. A dermis try desperate the source and that i replaced into able to handle it with off the shelf drugs. With ordinary visits to the Vet, my BabyGirl lived to 17 yrs. She went blind at 15 yet, adjusted without postpone and had 2 extra years. The spouse consistently stated she replaced into my previous flame. no longer real, yet close.

about 6 months ago my baby got the same rash but she had it, it started out just on her butt and within a few days it was all over her, and i took her to the urgent care, the doc said it was a viral infection that was causing the rash and there was nothing that i could do but wait for it to go away...well sure enough within a week after i took her it was all gone...but about 3 days ago i noticed it back on her..its on her thigh now ,and shes been scratching it since shes older now she able to do it, b4 she was to young to do it...so i just got her some anti itch cream and its already starting to go away...but just give it some time to go away... if it persist or gets worse...take him to the doctors but i took my baby and it was no use... but good luck!!

Are you using a special wipe to wipe his bottom. Or is it a detergent in his underwear. Or are you using pull ups. It could just be from constant wiping or rubbing on that area. My daughters dermatologist recommended using Eucerin cream for her skin rash on her hands, it could probably work on his bottom. Or get a diaper ointment or cream, they are all pretty good. You could get samples and experiment?
