My 11 year old son asked me the other day about getting a haircut. He proceeded to ask me if he could get a mohawk haircut. Do you feel it would be ok if I let him get a haircut like this? My son has a lot of hair so far at least 3'' long. He wants it to be about 1''-2'' long down the middle and yes he wants it razor shaved. I went to the barbershop about a month ago and my son watched a young boy get a mohawk. Now my son wants his haircut like this. I told him I would think abou it. What do you think?

Personally I would let him. He will probably come home from school the next day and want it gone but even if he doesnt why shouldnt he have his hair how he wants it while he can. It seems pretty harmless to let him express himself for a while.

There is nothing wrong with it. If he doesn't like it later on, he can always get his head shaved.
This is one of those things I would yield on. Why? Because when I get something in my head about what I want to try for a hairdo, nothing can get it out of my mind. I had ideas in my mind since childhood that I wanted to try, and as soon as I got out of the house, I tried those styles. I tried some only once since I was able to get them out of my system. Hairstyles tend to create a type of curiosity that won't go away unless they are tried.
By the way, hairstyles don't have an age to them.

I think you should let him wait until he's 13. It is a nice cut for boys if done correctly.. the part in the middle shouldn't be too long and it looks really cute if the person has slightly curly hair. Ultimately its your decision... but 11yrs does sound a little young. However I think its ok as long as the mohak isn't to DRAMATIC.. like with spikes and random colors.. just simple and short.. and its turns into a nice cut when it grows out.... lol hope this helped!

my sisters toddler has a mohawk and he seems soo wonderful. i imagine if the youngster has a small head it seems large! My son has a large head and my hubby wont enable me shrink his hair right into a mohawk! besides the undeniable fact that it matches my nephew.

believe it or not harstyles change so fast he will grow out of it if his friends r doing it go ahead i don't see why not
